How to Test Your Logitech Keyboard

Open Logitech G HUB and confirm your keyboard is detected under the Devices tab — if firmware is older than 2023.x, click Update Now before testing.

Disable any macros or bindings you have mapped in G HUB (especially on G-keys), then quit the app entirely so it cannot intercept keystrokes during the test.

If you are testing a wireless model (G Pro X Wireless, G915), unplug the Lightspeed USB receiver and re-pair it using the Logitech Connection Utility to rule out a stale pairing table.

Press every key in our tester row by row — pay special attention to the F-row and the macro G-keys, which Logitech sometimes leaves unbound by default.

Hold 6–10 keys at once (WASD plus surrounding modifiers) to verify Lightspeed's NKRO; any dropouts indicate receiver interference or a low battery below 15%.
Common Logitech Issues & Fixes
Double-click / key chatter after 1–2 years
Logitech's Romer-G and GX switches can develop chatter (one press registering twice) as the gold contact leaf wears. Open our tester and slow-tap each key — if a single press flashes red or you see two green flashes, that switch is chattering. Cleaning with isopropyl alcohol rarely fixes it; the contact leaf needs replacing, which on the G Pro X means swapping the hot-swappable switch.
Wireless dongle pairing lost
If G HUB shows the keyboard but keys do not register, the Lightspeed receiver has likely lost its pairing (common after a motherboard swap or USB hub change). Use the Logitech Connection Utility to re-pair: power the keyboard off, hold the Easy-Switch channel button for 3 seconds until the LED blinks fast, then complete the pairing in the utility.
F-row keys not responding
Logitech ships the G Pro X and G512 with the F-row defaulting to media controls (volume, play, mute). Press the Fn+Esc toggle (or Fn lock) to swap back to standard F1–F12, then re-test in our tool. If only specific F-keys are dead, check G HUB for a per-key assignment overriding them.
MX Keys lighting always on / battery drain
MX Keys uses a proximity sensor that turns the backlight on when your hands approach. If the sensor is dirty or the firmware has drifted, the backlight stays on and drains the battery in days. Wipe the sensor strip above the function row with a microfiber cloth, then charge fully and disable 'Adjust brightness in low light' in Logi Options+ to test battery longevity.
